The Great Outdoor Beaver Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is held every Labor Day Weekend in the beautiful and friendly sub-alpine Community of Beaver, Utah. The entire Campvention is staged Outdoors a few miles up the canyon from the Town at about 6,000 Feet Above Sea Level in a green valley surrounded on three sides by 11,000+ Foot high mountains. Beaver, Utah is located right on Interstate 15 about 500 miles from the Los Angeles area and about 3 hours North from Las Vegas, Nevada, or about 200 miles South of Salt Lake City, Utah.
The area surrounding Beaver boasts National Forest land, lakes for fishing, hundreds of miles of hiking and ATV trails, State Park land, a National Monument at 10,000 feet above Sea Level (Cedar Breaks N.M.), THREE Spectacular National Parks (Great Basin, Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon) and some of the most diverse and awe-inspiring countryside anywhere in The Great American West.
Festivities will begin this year on Thursday in the late afternoon with Registration and Meetings and continue through Sunday around noon and include Speaker Meetings, Marathon Meetings, a Nature Hike, Motorcycle Events, Pickleball, Cornhole, Sober Softball, Kid's Games and bottomless cups of good old fashioned A.A, Coffee. All of this and more for a modest registration fee of only $30.00 per Adult (Pre-Registration until around August 1 is only $20). Also planned are a highly unique Golf Tournament, a Community B-B-Q Meal and a selection of Event T-Shirts and Sweatshirts at reasonable prices. Even the Motels and Campgrounds in town offer great rates and the entire Community seems to welcome us with open arms each and every Labor Day Weekend as if we were long-lost relatives coming back home for a Family Reunion.
If you are able to arrive in town early, you are welcome to be a part of the Wednesday Evening Meals and Meetings in Beaver and the nearby Town of Milford and be a part of our set-up crew on Thursday morning. We meet at the Racetrack at about 11 am. If other areas of Service are more to your liking, we always need assistance with the Information Table, at Registration, with Commemorative Sales, and helping to make and serve the FREE Coffee that we provide throughout the Campvention. You are welcome to Be Of Service in any manner that is good for you. We can offer you more info on that as we get closer to the Event.
And, for the 10th Year in a row, our Committee will be Hosting several dozen Newcomers, most in their first year of Sobriety. We transport most of them up to Beaver (and back Home again), get them Tents, Sleeping Bags and Pillows for their 3-4 Nights in Town, transport them to our Meetings and Entertainment, take them Hiking and Fishing, and provide food and water and coffee throughout their stay in Beaver.
And, we do all of this at NO COST to the Newcomers!!
Some of you reading this may have been among those Newcomers in previous years. Many others of you have met and befriended these Newcomers and helped them to see that there really is Fun in Sobriety. And, lots of you have been of Service over the years by helping to transport them, set up their Tents, buy them a meal or a piece of PIE or DONATE to our Committee, which helps to enable to continue to offer this FREE Program.
This year, once again, YOU have the opportunity to BE OF SERVICE to those Newcomers. Please DONATE what you can throughout the Weekend to assist in generating an awesome experience to those folks who will be among us in their first year of Sobriety. Thank you all SO much for your generosity over the years. We hope to continue this in the future.
And, we even have a Planning Committee that meets once each month from March through August at various locations across Southern California to help plan our Event. There is also a Utah Planning Committee that meets in Beaver, and a Nevada Planning Committee that meets in Las Vegas and Henderson. As these Planning Meeting dates are calendared, we can forward the info to you. You are welcome to join the Committee if you like and help to plan our Event.
>> PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE at the REGISTER FOR TICKETS Button on our Home Page and at the Registration Page. Discounted Pre-Registration will be available until about August 1. <<
Please contact us if you have further questions regarding the Campvention itself or the surrounding area of Southern Utah. I travel there from Southern California about five times each year and can clue you in on some really great things to do on your vacation days before, during and after this awesome Sober Event.
Each year, over 600 of us descend upon the town of Beaver, Utah to share our Sobriety and our experience, strength and hope with each other. I certainly encourage you to consider the possibility of trudging the road this year and joining us over Labor Day Weekend. It will be an experience you will not soon forget.
Thank you for letting me Be Of Service.
