GENERAL INFO:
Thank you for your interest in
attending this year's Great Outdoor Beaver Meeting. Glad to
hear from you. I love hearing from other A.A.'s desiring to
make their first trek to Beaver as I did over a dozen years
ago or Sober members of our Fellowship returning to this
unique Campvention of Alcoholics Anonymous after a few years
away.
Elsewhere on this site, please find the Registration Flyer
(*Available at the Registration Tab) for our 2010 Event to
be held Thursday, September 2 through Sunday, September 5
during the Labor Day Weekend and my contact info if I can
answer any specific questions for you. The Flyer also
contains full contact info for the many Hotels, Motels and
Campgrounds in and around Beaver, so you may plan ahead and
make reservations for your stay.
The Flyer is in an Adobe PDF format, so you will need to
have the Adobe Reader already loaded on your computer to
open, view and print. If you do not already possess this
program, you may log on to www.adobe.com and download the
FREE version available there for your use.
You have our permission to download, print and distribute
anything on this site as you see fit. Please feel free to
spread the word, take Flyers to the meetings you get to, and
to give out my contact info to anyone interested.
The Great Outdoor Beaver Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is
held every Labor Day Weekend in the beautiful alpine
community of Beaver, Utah. The entire Campvention is staged
outdoors a few miles up the canyon from the town at about
6,000 feet above sea level in a lush green valley surrounded
by 11,000 foot high mountains. Beaver, Utah is located right
on Interstate 15 about 500 miles from the Los Angeles area
and about 3 hours north from Las Vegas, Nevada, or about 200
miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah. The area surrounding
Beaver boasts National Forest land, lakes for fishing,
hundreds of miles of hiking and ATV trails, State Park land,
a National Monument at 10,000 feet above sea level, 2
spectacular National Parks (Bryce and Zion Canyon) and some
of the most diverse and awe-inspiring countryside anywhere
in the American West.
Festivities will begin this year on Thursday, September 2,
2010 in the late afternoon with meetings and continue
through Sunday, September 5, 2010 around noon and include
Speaker Meetings, Marathon Meetings, a Nature Hike and a
bottomless cup of coffee. All of this and more for a modest
registration fee of only $10.00 per person. Also planned are
a highly unique Golf Tournament, a Community B-B-Q meal and
a selection of Event T-Shirts and Sweatshirts at reasonable
prices. Even the Motels and Campgrounds in town offer great
rates and the entire Community seems to welcome us with open
arms each and every Labor Day Weekend as if we were
long-lost relatives coming back home for a Family Reunion.
If you are able to arrive in town early, you are welcome to
be a part of the set-up crew on Thursday morning. We meet at
the Beaver Canyon Campground (see Flyer for address) a
little after 9 AM local time (MST) or at the Racetrack at
about 11 AM. If other areas of service are more to your
liking, we always need assistance with Registration,
Commemorative Sales, and making and serving the FREE Coffee
that we serve throughout the Campvention. You are welcome to
be of service in any manner that is good for you. I can
offer you more info on that as we get closer to the Event.
We even have a California Planning Committee that meets once
each month from February through August at various locations
across Southern California to help plan the Event. There is
also a Utah Planning Committee that meets in Beaver. As
these dates are calendared, I can forward the info to you.
You are welcome to join the Committee if you like and help
to plan the Event.
Again, please download and print the attached Flyer.

Please contact me if you have further questions regarding
the Campvention itself or the surrounding area of Southern
Utah. I travel there from Southern California about five
times each year and can clue you in on some really great
things to do on your vacation days before, during and after
this awesome Sober Event. And, please make sure you check in
and say hello after you arrive. Other than during the Nature
Hike on Friday morning, I am often in the Registration and
Souvenir Sales areas during the weekend.
Each year, about 600 of us descend upon the town of Beaver,
Utah to share our Sobriety and our experience, strength and
hope with each other. I certainly encourage you to consider
the possibility of trudging the road this year and joining
us over Labor Day Weekend. It will be an experience you will
not soon forget.
Thank you for letting me be of service.
